Spotify volume control in AW is extremely clunky. My primary use case is to listen to music when I'm running. Sometime I need to lower the volume urgently and it's impossible to do quickly. I need to stop. Look at the watch. And rotate the crown 5-6 times before it will start responding. And once it responds the volume changes in random chunks. You never know if it will change by 5% or by 25%.
Please tell me I'm doing it wrong and there is an easier way to adjust volume.
Device
Apple Watch 7
Operating System
watchOS 8
I'm having the same exact same problem. The digital crown on my watch works just fine until I try to adjust the volume in Spotify. I've tried different troubleshooting steps and none have work. I'm really disappointed because I specifically got the watch so that I could download my playlist and listen to it on my runs. Based on other posts in the community, this issue has been going on for months. I think I'm gonna have to switch to Apple Music because I seriously need to be able to adjust my volume properly. Spotify is garbage.
The only explanation I have is that nobody in Spotify user experience team actually uses the watch.
Hey folks,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community.
First, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it’s more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.
In case you already performed those steps and the issue is still persistent, could you include in your next response the OS version and the Spotify version you're currently running in both devices?
We'll be on the lookout.
I have the same issue with watchOS 8.6 I reinstalled the app from the Apple Watch an issue still persists if you want to control the volume with the watch.
Hey there @fabricio15,
Thanks for the post.
Can you let us know if the volume controls are leggy on your end or just don't work at, all and if the volume changes to 0 or 100% when you connect the watch?
Keep us posted.
This is disappointing. I have lots of lag on my Apple Watch 3 and I assumed it was just because the watch is slow. If it still happens on an S7, then there’s a bigger issue.
It’s much laggier mobile data which implies the volume control request has to go from the Watch to the phone to Spotify servers and then back to the phone.
Hey @Robadobdob,
Thanks for your reply.
For starters, would you mind sharing with us the troubleshooting you've already tried? If not done yet, you can start off with a clean reinstall of the app on your device.
We'd like to gather as much info as possible. Can you let us know the exact make/model and OS of the affected device along with the current Spotify version installed there?
Lastly, can you let us know what @Alex asked above? It'll help us a lot.
Keep us in the loop!
