Can't delete songs on Starred playlist using mobile app

Solved!

Can't delete songs on Starred playlist using mobile app

As of yesterday (I think my Spotify app updated yesterday), when I swipe right on a song in my Starred playlist, it no longer brings up the button to delete that song. This isn't a problem with any of my other playlists on mobile, and I can still delete songs from my Starred playlist using the Spotify computer program. This is just a problem with the Starred playlist on mobile. Help?

If not jus

I have just written spotify a personal e-mail regarding this asking if they plan to have this option in the future. If we do not get an answer on here, I suggest everyone start writing to their e-mail which you can find if you google "contact spotify customer service". They usually respond to me within 24 hours. Hopefully this works because losing that swipe was awful!!

I just got this response from the spotify team:

As you are aware it isn't currently possible to delete tracks from the Starred Playlist in this way. I have passed your comments onto the correct team for you and made the community managers aware of the thread so that they can provide you all with further information once it is available.

So let's just hope that someone gets in a swipe-delete fix. It would make this part of Spotify massively more user friendly.

Hey everyone,

Just to make things clear and avoid any confusion - users can still delete tracks off the Starred playlist. All you have to do is:

Head to the 'Starred' playlist, tap the 3 dot menu button and select 'Edit'. You'll then be able to select the track that you'd like to remove by tapping the red delete button.

If you want the swipe to delete option, then it's best to create an idea where it can gain kudos. You can do this here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/ideas/v2/ideaexchangepage/blog-id/ideaexchange.

From there we can bring those ideas back to the iOS team.

Thanks.

Just to make things clear and avoid confusion..

The issue is NOT deleting songs from a playlist.

The issue IS not being able to first do a search then delete the song!

SPOTIFY needs to listen to their customers and bring this feature back. I also have an Android and you can still delete songs after a search. But for some reason you can't anymore in iOS.

I've has this problem for so long now. No solution, Spotify hasn't helped or fixed this. And I can't edit any playlist. Not Starred or any other folder I created. I tweeted this, Spotify responded pretty well, I even sent screen shots. So far, nothing. This really sucks! (And I hate having to say it!) darn I wish they'd fix this!!!

Yes, can delete from the regular list, but try to search in IOS for the song you want to delete, and edit goes away. So frustrating, I agree!!

I have figured it out!

I am using an iphone and on my playlist at the very top right hand corner there are 3 dots, I clicked on that and it gave me the option to EDIT the playlist.
From there you are able to go through the list and remove songs that you no longer want on there!

Please read all the replies before posting and make sure you know what the
issue is before you post a "solution"! That is NOT a solution. Yes, you
can first click edit and delete a song from a playlist. You cannot
however, do a search for a song within the playlist THEN delete the song;
which makes it very user UNFRIENDLY. For example, say you have a playlist
of 800 songs and you want to delete a certain song from that playlist. You
CANNOT first search for the song then delete it. You can only first click
edit then scroll through ALL the songs looking for the one you want to
delete. The old way was much more user friendly. You could search for a
song, swipe then delete it. There has been numerous updates and the issue
still has NOT been fixed.

Ok. But the question was how to delete a song from a spotify playlist. Not how user friendly the way to do it is. I understand it's not an ideal way to delete songs but I came to the site searching for a way to delete one and I figured out how to do just that so I thought I would help others who might not have known how to do it too!

I don't think Spotify is going to bring the swipe to delete function back.

Please support my new idea:

Note: I'm not a Spotify employee.

When you go into the starred playlist, there will be three dots on the top right. Press it and then edit, then there will be a red thing next to the song, click it and then you probably should have it deleted.

Read ALL the comments before you "answer". That is not the whole problem!

I really want to be able to delete songs on my starred playlist really easily - it is spoiling the whole spotify experience. Please please make it a simple swipe type action with a conformation message. I'm getting really frustrated - have even been trialling apple music to see if it has a similar annoyance. So far I am liking it more and more.

9 Years later, still cannot delete while in playlist on mobile
