Can't open app through media notification

Hello,
I am trying to open the app from media notification widget or the right panel media widget but I can only upscale the cover but not open the app to search for a new song. On apple's music app it opens as it should. On Spotify I can just tap the title/artist and nothing happens. On other offline media player I could open it as expected while it was playing media.

Thanks for reaching out, sorry to hear you're having some difficulties. Let's take a look together shall we. 

You mentioned that trying to access Spotify from the Control Centre of you iPhone only expands the cover art but doesn't lead you to the Spotify app, right? This seems like it could be related to background data, so we would advise to clear Spotify's cached data. You can follow the steps on how to do that here.
