Car Bluetooth connection not streaming

Hey all,

When I connect my iPhone to the Bluetooth in my car (2017 VW Jetta), it says connected, but when I go to play music on Spotify it does not stream. It says playing, then stops after a couple seconds. I am still able to make calls via Bluetooth, the issue only resides with using Spotify.
I have researched some other forums where people had this issue (seems unfortunately common) and done the following:

- quit and reopened the app
- turned off Bluetooth and reconnected
- reset phone
- reset Spotify
- updated software to latest iOS

None of these things fixed the issue. What's weird is, when I first got the car a couple weeks ago the Bluetooth streaming worked fine with Spotify, no issues at all. The streaming issue started just a few days ago so it's quite frustrating.
