CarPlay extremely buggy

Spotify on CarPlay is buggy bordering on unusable.   If I try to play my starred playlist, I just get a 'empty' looking playlist.  Sometimes it will start playing something after 30 or so seconds but most of the time it does nothing.

Spotify will also randomly force close.  Music cuts, screen goes back to the main carplay menu.  

Sometimes it will startup normally but then I get no sound.

This is Spotify running on iOS 8.0.2 via iPhone 6+ on a Pioneer AVH-4000NEX head unit.

Please, please work on CarPlay. 

Edit 1-5-2015: Spotify 2.2.0.2464 on iOS 8.1.2 (12B440) on iPhone 6+ and the issues are still there.

Edit: 6-11-2015: Spotify 3.2.0.1554 on iOS 8.3 (12F70) on iPhone 6+: Recently I've had better luck with Spotify loading correctly and playing correctly. Occassionally I'll have audio break up (not sure if that's the iPhone 6+, Spotify or the head unit).     It should be noted that I like Spotify and don't care for other products out there (for some reason another product was marked as the solution to this thread).  I'm glad to see some positive movement for Spotify and CarPlay.

6-11-15 Update 2:   2 things happen frequently:  Songs play at 2x (skipping every few seconds).  Spotify stops responding for 4-5 seconds.

Just got a 2016 VW GTI and the Spotify app has been working terribly. Girlfriend has a 2016 civic and the app and CarPlay works just as terribly. Hoping an update will be released and fix it up.

Have you their update your iOS? I had tremendous problems with Spotify on Carplay, to the point where it was unusable. I updated my phone last night, and today things seemed much better. Hope that helps.

4.7.0 is sent out to beta testers now, the blank screen issue and some other bugs should be fixed. Please keep reporting issues, we appreciate it as we don't have the possibility to test all combinations of iPhones and car brands ourselves. When you report an issue, please state the Spotify version, iOS version and iPhone model.

As usual, I'm pretty sure it wont fix any bugs that we mentionned since months ago. You should definitivly outsourced the reprogramation of your Software.

I got fed up I am afraid.  I've cancelled my Spotify subscription payment for now till this is fixed and will just use the free version.  I've switched to Apple Music which whilst having a worse UI at least works as expected on Car Play.  As I now drive to my new job and listen to most of my music in the car, this was a deal breaker for me.

I hope you guys fix it ASAP

Having the same issue as described with my Carplay in Seat Leon FR using Iphone 6, IOS 9.2 and Spotify 4.6.0.1466

Any idea when version 4.7 will be released for public?

Have the blank screen issue too. Audi A4 2016, Spotify 4.6.0.1466 and iOS 9.2 on an iPhone 6P. Sometimes the interface shows but with wrong icons, not responding.

2016 Tahoe.  Same issues.  Spotify is unusable (blank screens, artist/album lists only scroll to about 20 then no more, etc.)  Hope 4.7.0 fixes EVERYTHING or it'll be time to switch to Apple as well.

The update is available.

As far as I tested the update, it fixes alot of bugs.

I haven't tested everything yet, but as far as I have seen, alot of the problems I had are gone.

Like disconnecting the lighting cable as the car is running that the music keeps playing on Iphone. The music stops now. Connecting the cable again starts continues to play the song.

Haven't seen the black screen (yet). Time will tell.

So thanks Spotify for the update.

Found the first bug.

If Spotify is open in the background, Music is NOT playing, and you make a phonecall and hangup, Spotify starts playing the last song.

Swiped up, to close spotify, made a phonecall.. nothing happens. Started Spotify, again Music NOT playing.. make a phonecall, hangup and music start playing again. 😞

Good to hear! What I'm also hoping is that one day when we go to Shazam or Facebook on our phones while connected to CarPlay, the darn screen on our cars wont go to Apple Music!!! Extremely annoying.. anyone else notice this?

Haven't experienced the blank screen issue (yet) with the new version, but the "browse" menue is still empty...

This is total crap, I'll swith to Apple Music if this won't be fixed soon...

I switched to Apple Music a long time ago and never looked back. It works
like a charm on CarPlay.
