Changing synced local file playing on other device

Changing synced local file playing on other device

Problem

Since version 2.3.0 of Spotify I have not been able to change playback of local music playing on an iDevice from another iDevice.

Example

I have three devices: iPhone 4, iPhone 6+ and iPad Air. I have a playlist with only local songs from my computer, so for example when my iPhone 4 (where the playlist is synced) is playing through that, and I want to change the song, either from iPad Air (where the playlist is not synced) or iPhone 6+ (where the playlist is synced), the music playback just stops and the music info screen on all devices looks like following:

 More info

  • The devices all run the latest iOS 8.1.3 (iPhone 4: iOS 7.1.2).
  • I followed the troubleshooting steps in B here
  • The Spotify version is 2.3.0 on all devices.
