My Question or Issue

I have my spotify EQ enabled all the time and im noticing that the treble or more specifically the 15 kHZ and 2.4kHZ part wont enable automatically. I would have to manually adjust the knob for that freq down and back up and then I would be able to hear that crisp high end. Weirdly enough do the bass freq are always active and working. Havent tried anything to troubleshoot it.

Hey there @joshuasingh2008,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

As we haven't seen similar reports, it's possible that it's related to your current setup. However, since you mention not trying any troubleshooting steps just yet, it's worth trying some to see if this could remediate the issue 🙂

We had a look at the screenshots you sent over and we see that you're connected to a Bluetooth device. To confirm, does this happen when listening directly from the device too or when using a different pair of headphones?

Also, to make sure we cover all bases, would you mind checking if reinstalling the app makes any difference? A clean reinstall will clear any stored cache, as well as ensure that you're running the latest app version. It's also a good idea to look for updates to your device's OS.

Another thing which comes to mind is trying on another mobile device (if possible). For example, you can log in to your Spotify account on a friend or family member's phone.

Let us know how it goes.

Hey, thanks your swift response. I’ve reinstalled the app and will update you if the issue persists.

To answer your other questions, I have noticed that the issue does not persist when on desktop but the desktop website doesent have an eq.

I hope clearing the cache does fix it.

I’ve tried clearing cache and reinstalling the app on my device and the issue still persist. I also saw that the ui is a little different after a update. I’ll check back in later after trying the rest of the solutions

After some further investigation it seems that anytime i restart my iphone is when the issue perists. Furthermore i nailed it down to the fact that if i restart the app (close it out and open it) the trebble and high end freq will sound muddy as if the eq is not applying.

I was not able to upload my orgiinal video file but here is a embed link to listen to the issue (https://streamable.com/167g0f). Please wear good heapdhones to hear the difference. Notice in the beginning the audio is a little muffled but the bass is still there and present. After adjusting the high bands you can hear that krisp high end come back. Whats more weird is after adjusting the low end you hear no changes but I never experiences the bass droping like how the treble does when i restart app.

Hey there @joshuasingh2008

Thanks for getting back to us.

As a next step, we recommend turning "Volume Normalization" off in the app settings under "Playback" to see if it makes any difference. It's also worth checking if switching between Quiet/Normal/Loud would change anything.

We're afraid we couldn't open the screen recording you sent due to security reasons. Could you give it another try? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

changing audio normalization level does not change or help the issue. The issue still persists. Have you guys had a moment to check the videos in my last comment?

Hey @joshuasingh2008,

Thanks for the video!

We've checked it and understand what you mean, however, we're unable to reproduce the issue on our end. We've also noticed there's a newer iOS version available for your device. Have you considered upgrading to it?

It would also be really helpful if you can you check if the issue persists with other audio quality settings and/or with a different account as suggested by @Maria above so we can narrow down the possible cause.

Appreciate your cooperation in this. Keep us posted!

Thanks for checking it out. I have considered upgrading but the reason why I can’t is because my phone is jailbroken so staying at this iOS is critical. What’s weird is that I’ve always been at this iOS and the issue kinda came out of nowhere. I will try on a new account and mess around with audio settings

Ive attached a video of me trying on a brand new account. Issue stll persists https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JrUxkK4oBe6mLL3k9a4D1i--cLI72Y-_/view?usp=sharing

Ive also went ahead and dwongraded my audio quality to high and medium and low, but those also didnt work.

Ive done some more research and discovered someone having the same issue as me.

Ive went ahead and tried it on another iphone and the issue is still happening

This phone does not have the third party apps associated to sony headphones

Hi @joshuasingh2008,

Thanks for all the info provided.

All things considered, the most likely reason for this issue is the setup itself. You mentioned that your phone is jailbroken, so we have to mention that we cannot really guarantee the full functionality when the device or its OS have been modified in any way. Additionally, the version you're at is just barely over the minimum requirements, so that may have something to do with it. The phone you have can be updated all the way up to the latest iOS 26.3, so we recommend you go to a newer version and see if the issue persists.

So ive actually digged deeper and found more info on the issue. In the provided screenshot above with my equalizer i have the 20k band pulled up all the way. So what I did is moved it down just a little so its not at the max and restarted spotify. And goods news, the issue did not persist. Ive attached a video recording demonstrating.

In terms of your response on my jailbroken device, i dont accept this as ive tried it on a new device that is NOT jailbroken and was able to replicate the issue. ive also went ahead and removed the jailbreak from my main phone and was STILL able to replicate the issue.

Thanks for your continued assistance, @joshuasingh2008!

We appreciate your feedback on this. We don't have an ETA for a fix at the moment, but we'd recommend making sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss a thing.

The Community is just a post away in case something else comes up.

Thanks, I will try to provide more information as I discover and dig deeper. Also would you like me to upload a new video demonstrating the issue. I just looked over the screen recording and realized that the bass is heavily distorted although it doesent sound like this on my headphones

Thanks, @joshuasingh2008! If you think you can capture a better representation of the treble issue in action then feel free to share a new video, but I could hear it clearly in the first screen recording you provided, so I'd say it's sufficient.

Again, we are unable to provide an exact ETA for a fix at this time, but in the meantime make sure you're keeping Spotify updated. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks for sharing it here on the forum.

Cheers 🤘
