Exploring new ways of adding items to "Your Library"

Hey there folks,

Our design team has started exploring new ways to add items to "Your Library". This is why we'd love to hear your feedback on the new implementations, because those changes are done with the goal to better your experience on our platform.

The design may differ in either having a heart symbol or a plus sign with other subtle differences.

Thank you for taking the time to share your constructive feedback on the recent changes, we appreciate it! Rest assured that we're actively monitoring this thread and taking notes, so do keep on submitting your suggestions here!

So far, the following main areas of feedback have been taken taken into account and forwarded to the relevant team (this being a summary, with the actual report being more in-depth):

• Adding a whole album to a playlist is really useful.
• Swiping to add a song to the user's Liked Songs is practical.
• Adding songs to other playlists works well, but adding songs to the Liked list now takes more actions, which isn't ideal.
• The "heart" symbol in Now Playing view just looks visually better to you and makes it easier to tell if a track has been added specifically to your Liked Songs.
• Tracks no longer having a "heart" symbol on the artist page or when viewing albums and playlists is dearly missed.
• When tapping the "plus" symbol, the Liked Songs playlist should be deselected OR it should be separate from the "heart".

Don't worry - the current changes are something we're still testing out, so they aren't final. The purpose of these tests is exactly to help us improve the app thanks to your input. Gathering and evaluating all of your feedback may take some time as we don't want to miss any of it, so please give us a few weeks to process all of the information and get things finalized.

We'll continue to monitor this thread for your suggestions and pass them on to the relevant team. We'll keep you folks posted as soon as we have any new information to share.

Besides letting us know what you're missing from the recent changes, it'd be really helpful if you could point out what you really enjoy (or maybe want to see) in regards to adding songs/episodes to your playlists and library.

THIS MAKES ME WANT TO GO BACK TO APPLE MUSIC. 

How does it make sense to have THREE steps to add a song I come across to my library? 
AND the songs aren’t even adding to my library at that. This needs an emergency fix!

You should be “exploring” with beta testers not every user!

Oh man. I miss the feature to add a full album to a playlist.

I understand the ability to quickly add an album to a library, but I’ve always kept a running playlists of albums I’ve meant to check out as well as albums that fit other playlists. And having to manually add each track from an album (while I’m on mobile) has been super inconvenient these last few weeks.

Would love that feature back.

I absolutely hate this new update, I want the heart button back. This update is so frustrating, instead of adding to liked songs with one button, it now takes two. On top of that, the option is gone on my iPhone to add an entire album to a playlist from the 3 dot drop down. I really do not like this update, it makes the app very frustrating and I desperately want to change it back.

I’ve lost the heart button (iPhone user) and left with a ‘+’ that doesn’t even work. I click the + to add to my liked songs and press ‘done’ but the song isn’t added to my liked songs. Horrible update and should be reverted back.

Hi! I’ve been clicking plus button, then “liked songs” playlist, and then
done! I really they will bring the original button back, but I think this
is the way to like a song with the current update.

Hi, I’m not a fan of taking away the ability to click the heart on a song to like it.  I frequently listen to my liked songs playlist and now it’s not as convenient to add songs to it. I don’t understand why the heart was taken away ,which is a shortcut to add songs to the “liked songs” playlist,  and has been replaced by a check mark when there is already an option to add songs to a separate playlist if desired. Is there a way to change it back?

one touch to like a song on your car’s infotainment display is one thing. Three clicks is an accident waiting to happen.

Really not liking the removal of likes and not seeing a heart symbol anymore with my albums in mobile. Likes are a huge way I sort through a lot of albums I'm listening to, and it provides a really clear and concise way to see songs I like and do not like in an album. When on mobile, this is especially needed when trying to quickly add songs to a queue while transiting or going about my day. Having the option of seeing if I added it to a playlist is effectively useless in terms of sorting through albums quickly (did I add this song to my general listening playlist, my transiting playlist, my sleep playlist, my hiking playlist, etc.?)

Ultimately, being able to see which songs are liked and not is infinitely more useful and practical than being able to see whether or not I added it to my library or playlist, especially when I can't even see at a glance which playlist I added the song to. Please make the likes visible again, it can even be alongside the plus sign symbol, just as long as they are back. It has really ruined a large part of my enjoyment with using Spotify.

Hi Dian, the removal of the feature where you can add an album to a playlist is an absolutely atrocious idea and i don’t see how it benefits anyone. Please add the feature back immediately.

Hate hate hate this new feature. I have a playlist which I like to add full albums to, and now there seems to be no way to do that except adding each individual song which I just do not have the time nor patience for! I can only add it to my library which is essentially useless for me.

I really dislike this update and its making me engage with the library less. It shouldn't take multiple taps to add a song to your liked songs from the Now Playing screen; that defeats the purpose of it being a shortcut. It is also broken. Songs added to the Liked Songs playlist in this manner are not actually added, and they do not appear in the Liked Songs playlist. The update is also inconsistent with the Spotify player on desktop and in carplay, which is frustrating. The single tap of a heart icon is a significantly better design and I would like it back as soon as possible.
