Extreme Data Usage Playing Offline Songs

iPhone 6s, newest version of spotify, played 4 downloaded tracks back to back on my device. After resetting cellular usage it showed 9MB of cellular usage. This is unacceptable. Additionaly I have streaming and downloaded quality set to the lowest. If they can't get this resolved I'll have to switch back to Apple Music. 

Does anyone have any hints?

Same here: in settings I have "Download Using Cellular" off. I save a (big) playlist while on wifi, then I loose wifi and download (supposedly) stops. Check mobile data usage in iOS' view: around 600MB! How is it possible??

Same on android!! eat 3864mb of data nearly 4gb!! nearly everything was downloaded!! how can it be!!
