Free Users Cannot Connect To My (Premium) Spotify Jam

My Question or Issue

I have spotify premium and im using the spotify app. I started a jam and shared it to my friend who does not have premium and is on the free version. He is unable to join on his device and have the sound output on his device as shown in the video attached. 

Is this normal behavior? I thought he should be able to join in and add songs as im hosting the jam.

Welcome to the Spotify Community and thanks for reaching out!

Free users can join and add songs to a Jam hosted by a Premium user, however, they can only listen on the host's device for a so-called 'in-person Jam'. In order for your friend to listen on their own device in a Jam you're hosting (i.e. a 'remote Jam'), they need to have Premium.
