Help connecting to Facebook or with friends in general

Hi! I've had Spotify for a while now, but haven't ventured into all of the features. I have tried to connect to Facebook before and didn't have luck, but didn't see a reason to have it. I'm now having trouble accessing music that a friend has sent to me. I know where to find the alerts and all that, but it's simply not there. I thought maybe I should try to connect with Facebook. It tells me that I've already done that. I went into Facebook and unlinked it and tried again. Same thing. So basically I can't connect with anyone on Spotify and would like to start using this feature. What can I do?
