Signed up for premium a couple of weeks ago and set up “Hey Spotify” on the iPhone app and it worked great until yesterday. I was using it in my car connecting via Bluetooth. Now nothing happens when I say “Hey Spotify”.
I see there was an update on 7/23/22 and was curious if that could be the issue? I deleted and reinstalled the app and I don’t even see the microphone icon in the search to set it up again.
I keep searching for suggestions and I don’t see anybody having issues like mine.

Hi there @jabbtastic,
Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community.
The "Hey Spotify" feature has been deprecated on the 18th of July 2022, this is why you can't access the feature anymore. At Spotify, we’re always working to deliver features that our users love. In order to make way for future innovations, the current “Hey Spotify” voice feature is removed from within our app. “Hey Spotify” will still be available via Car Thing in the U.S. and users will be able to easily access other voice assistants from our integrated partners on their mobile devices. For more information visit our support pages.
Hope this clears things up.

Apparently they removed Hey Spotify feature. They say that we can use other voice assistants instead. ok. But they also removed the microphone from the search bar. So now I have to type out anything that I want to search for. It doesn't help that I have no idea how to spell half of what I am searching for.
So we can use Hey Google or Siri or whatever instead. Got it. But why remove the microphone from the search bar? I don't want to type my search out all the time.
How does it make sense to remove the feature before there are any "future innovations" to replace it. Unless of course the company is valuing money over user safety and only keeping the feature enabled for Spotify car thing to try to boost sales and get rid of the last units in stock.
I know you're just a customer service person, but really if you can, tell the execs that this is ridiculous. I'm not buying an entire extra device just to use the hey Spotify feature. Bring it back you numbskulls.
This is one of the lamest decisions ever made by Spotify. I used it frequently on my phone. I think the bigger problem was that the search was defective and would search criteria not spoken and that should have been fixed rather than removing the feature altogether. I want it back.
So Spotify can get more sales revenue from Car Thing device? Car Thing will never be as profitable as smartphone features. That's not cool- A Premium user should get all the benefits of Spotify, especially a simple feature like voice activation.
Agreed, this makes no sense, Spotify. Please bring back this useful feature!
I agree with everyone on here. I miss that feature and will not purchase another device just to get it back. It would be nice if Spotify would be responsive to users and bring this feature back or at least enable microphone for search.
Ridiculous honestly. My brother is blind and that was his primary way of finding the music he wanted to listen to. Even besides that fact, it's a danger to not have that feature as a driver.
Spotify thing ain’t even a thing anymore and it’s basically impossible to use Spotify safely when I’m driving. Especially with the drive mode feature that happens every time my phone goes into drive mode or connects to my car.
Spotify just keeps making dumb decisions.
They took away our Voice Assistant because they made a stupid box that nobody wants to have inside of their car, and they made it to where you could use that with your voice. What a bunch of @$$|-|()|€$
And they can't even sell the stupid thing they had to discontinue its production because no one wanted it
Bring back Hey Spotify please
