How do I stop iTunes syncing with Spotify

I have so much stuff in my iTunes library that it will never fit on my iPhone or iPad. Therefore I do not want Spotify to sync my iTunes library to Spotify local files automatically.

There are some tracks i would like to sync from iTunes to Spotify local files, but I need to control it otherwise Spotify syncs the first x many songs and then my ipad/iPhone is full without me being able to make my Spotify playlists available offline.

This is so annoying...I really need to sort this out or cannot continue to to use Spotify (which would be terrible because other than this I love it!)
