How to get iPhone app to NOT start playing last song listened to when launching the app?

I don't know if it's like this for anyone else, but when I launch the Spotify app on my iPhone, it starts playing the last song I listened to automatically. Some people might like this, but for me, it's quite annoying. Is there any way to change this?

Generally, pausing the track when leaving the app should stop it from playing again when you open it up.

I always pause the song when leaving the app, and when I go back to the app it starts playing again.

This is so annoying beacuse it happens every time i'm in a library or public place.... does anyone know how to stop this?
