How to stop spotify search function from interrupting music from other app?

I am trying to listen to music played from a local radio station app. When I search a song in spotify to add it to a playlist, spotify interrupts the music playing from the other application. I have tried uninstall/reinstall and the issue persists. Does anyone know how to stop this behavior?

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community. 

Just to confirm, do you play the song on Spotify and that's why the other app's playback stops or you just search for the song and add it to a playlist without playing it? 

If it's the latter, could you send us a short screen recording so we can take a closer look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

Lastly, sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device would come in handy.
