Hi folks!

Thanks for your replies.

@Kehlee, we're glad to hear that things are now working correctly for you. If anything else comes up, the Community is always here 🙂

@Kixxu, could you let us know the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device? Additionally, we'd like to know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update.

We'll be on the lookout.

Iphone 13 pro ios 15.0.1

Spotify version 8.6.68.1328

It started when i got this phone.

Hey there @Kixxu

Thanks for sending us this info.

Would you mind asking a friend or a relative to log in to their account in your phone to check if the issue persists with a different account?

On another note, we'd like to know if this happens when Spotify is open/running in the background or if it also happens when the app is completely closed.

Keep us posted.

I can try to find someone..

It does it either way but it only bothers me when it does that when it not should do that/when spotify is not open in my phone.

I seem to have the same thing here

when Spotify is playing on a separate device (in my case Alexa) Spotify shows it playing on my Lock Screen even when Spotify is fully turned off

1. start playing on phone

2. Transfer playback to Alexa

 3. fully close the app

 4. Lock phone

 5. wait (in my case when the app is fully closed there is a delay, not sure how long but think 5-10 minute maybe)

6. After some time the playback controls comes up on the Lock Screen

7. if I go and restart the app and close it again, there is again a delay before the controls show up

this happens for both me and my wife

we both are running latest version of Spotify and ios15.1. This did not happen before

This is happening to me too. seems to be introduced from ios 15. running ios 15.0.2 on iPhone 13 pro max. app closed, background refresh turned off, device lock screen setting in spotify turned off

device iPhone 13 pro max
Spotify version 8.6.68.1328

Troubleshooting steps

is an iPhone.. most things are locked and there is not much that can be done. The only thing I did was to turn off local network access (didn’t help)

as this occurs on multiple devices I do not see any reason that it would be install related (so did not see reason to wipe out and reinstall)

I have had the same problem since upgrading to ios15.

Playing music through Spotify on Mac causes Spotify to show up on my iPhone lock screen and turns the iPhone volume to max (to match Spotify volume on the Mac). This wouldn't be a problem except that the volume remains maxed when I open other apps like Instagram... which means when I scroll and pause over a reel it plays at full volume despite my phone being on silent. I couldn't even close Spotify, because the app isn't actually running.

I tried turning off background app refresh and that makes no difference. The only workaround I found was posted years ago here - open Spotify (on iPhone) > Settings > Devices > deselect Devices Lock Screen. This stops the ability to control the music from the Lock Screen when listening on another device.

It's only a workaround, however, because I want to be able to control the music from my iPhone... I just don't want it to take over my phone system volume!

No idea whether it's related or not, but I just noticed that I can't control Spotify volume from my Apple Watch anymore since updating that to watchOS 8

ios15.0.2 on iPhone 8 running Spotify 8.6.68.1328

macOS Big Sur 11.6 on MacBook Pro (13" 2020 Intel chip) running Spotify 1.1.70.610.g4585142b

watchOS 8.0.1 on Apple Watch series 3 (can't see a version number)

Hi. Happened to me as well, I will try to explain as clearly as I can, but pardon for my bad english

Connected devices to my spotify account:

iPhone 12 Pro iOS 15.0.1 (but actually happened on iOS 14 too)

Desktop PC Windows 10 64-bit

Macbook Air 2017

Everyone who talked about this is totally right. This issue comes randomly so we can not screenshot / screen record it. This usually happens when (at least for me) I'm playing music on my Mac / PC spotify. Suddenly, my phone's volume turned up to max (you can see it on my attachment) and it is written "Listening on Desktop" or "Listening on Macbook". So, why max volume? It is because when we often listen music at Spotify, the volume bar (at the bottom right corner) is maxed out right? So the iPhone detects that volume bar to our iPhone's volume. See attachment also. Therefore, at this situation (phone connected to other device with "Listening on ____") it means our iPhone's volume IS spotify's volume bar, I've tested it, when I tone down my volume on my iphone, my PC's spotify music volume is also lowered down. So, what should we do? I usually open up the spotify app, close it down again (to make it not connected to my phone) and then turn down the volume (see my attachment)

This issue really annoys me because it suddenly connected to other devices when Im not aware of it, so when I open up other applications (say Instagram), the phone volume is suddenly so loud and it is really annoying.

I almost forgot to tell you guys that I've tried a few things to fix it:

1. Turning on and off bluetooth does not affect anything.

2. Turning off Spotify's Local network (to find local network devices) also does not work, it still connects automatically.

I hope Spotify team can fix this, or maybe the moderators can help us with some answers.

I will be waiting!

Hi, I'm having a similar issue with my watch, but instead of turning up to 100%, my volume goes to 0% anytime my phone connects to my car via Bluetooth. Spotify will start to play, then after a few seconds, the volume drops. My clothing isn't causing the dial to turn and I'm not touching my watch when this happens. I'm driving.

Hi @fitetothefinish,

“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.”– Maria von Trapp

I started having this problem since 24th September (the day I got my new iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 15). Desynced my iPhone and PC, so that they are not connected in any way, in addition I disabled the ability to control Spotify from my iPhone lockscreen + background refreshing has been always disabled.

Today I decided to take a screen recording that might be helpful when you are troubleshooting / re-creating the problem.

Conditions in my recording are the following:

- Spotify on my iPhone is closed completely

- Spotify on my PC is closed completely

- Devices are not synced in Spotify

As soon as the volume is maxed out on my iPhone, you know that I opened Spotify on my PC and control Spotify from there. As soon as the volume does down, Spotify is closed on my PC.

Since there is a 5MB limit, heres a Dropbox link to my screen recording:

Spotify folks, this is the third time I've had this issue. The past two times I reached out to Spotify chat, the resolution we came up with was to reset my account cache and have me reinstall the app. It has not worked. The issue is here again.

Today is the third time I experienced this issue. I was asked by Spotify chat support to use their test account to see if it happens there too.

Based on the test I did today, it seems that the issue arises when:

  1. I first use Spotify on my iPhone
  2. Close the app on my phone
  3. then use Spotify on Desktop immediately after

Of course I'm not 100% sure this is the exact "pathway" to the Connect issue. I've tried it again but I can't replicate it anymore.

But basically, even if I'm using a different network on both devices, Spotify Connect still is being activated by the desktop app even if Spotify is closed on my iPhone.

I was assured a ticket has been created regarding this, they said it seems to be a live issue. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

Now that you mention, it also happened to my iPhone 6s, and it happened constantly like everyday, not once twice or thrice.

Hi there @RaitzeR1, @awkweirdasian and @hongkyjoseph,

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Hi there @Jeremy, my device is iPhone 13 Pro Max 256GB running iOS version 15.0.2 (19A404) and Spotify version is currently the latest one available in the App Store (8.6.72.1273).

Troubleshooting steps that I have tried:

- Clear cache within the Spotify App

- Uninstall Spotify and reinstall from App Store

- Within Devices menu, select PC from other devices list and select Forget device.

Having to rewrite this as my comment got lost when submitting…

I’ve had this issue multiple times as well already. I’ve only just recently gotten an Apple Watch and I use Spotify on my iPhone. Hopefully adding more details helps you guys in reproducing the issue.

I use Spotify on my phone, and I connect to my car’s Bluetooth and my AirPods everyday. On my car I set the phone volume to max 100%, and on my AirPods to 25-30%. I’ve noticed that the Apple Watch Spotify app sometimes desyncs from the iPhone app, for example while I can still skip and adjust volume through the watch, it will display a song that I’ve already listened to with 0:00 seconds left and it won’t update to the next song regardless of what is playing on my phone. Even exiting the app or turning off and waking the Watch doesn’t make it start to sync.

What I suspect is happening is that the Watch will remember the 100% volume from when I’m in the car and later when I put on AirPods it will fail to update to the 25-30% volume that it should now be set to. So when I go to change volume through the watch it starts from 100% and the sound starts to blast.

It’s also possible that the 100% volume level is random or coming from somewhere else, but the fact that the watch app doesn’t update its info is the issue.

Hi,

I have an iPhone 12pro with iOS 15 and Mac with BigSur 11.6

I use Spotify on the computer and randomly the iPhone picks up the song playing even if the mobile app is completely closed: there is a frozen control panel in the Lock Screen with the song. The volume of the phone is set to the one of the Mac app and the music stops playing because AirPods don't know which device to use anymore.

I already tried the deep cleaning of the iPhone app you suggested but the issue is still there

Thanks

Marco
