Iphone - spotify pauses and keeps playing when locking screen on or off

Hello,
I’ve recently encountered an issue with the Spotify app on my iPhone. Whenever I lock or unlock the screen while music is playing, the audio briefly pauses for about a second before resuming. This problem only started happening recently. Could you please assist me in resolving this issue?

Me too. If it very disruptive while using car play as well. If you lift your phone the audio changes to the iPhone quality audio but through my vehicles speakers.

same for AirPods. Locking my phone pauses it for a split second and tapping my screen to wake up the phone pauses it as well.

Iv had spotify premium (through Vodafone) for about 5 years.. no issues!

This stopped so I paid up front for a year and everything has ran seamlessly apart from when I pause.. and lock my phone it continues playing. Constantly!

Also when I ‘lock’ the screen or open the phone up when something is playing, it ‘pauses’ the music for a tiny moment before carrying on! Not the most annoying bugbear this one but they’ve both started happening since renewing!

Any help would be amazing as it’s so frustrating!! Thanks guys!

It's worthwhile to perform a clean reinstall of the app, as this is more thorough than the normal one and ensures that no cached data will cause interference with the new installation of your app.

- Your device info (make/model) and OS version

- Exact Spotify version

Also, and if possible; could any of you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

i’m on ios 18 using airpods pro’s 2nd gen’s when i turn off my phone my music pauses for a second and plays again this is really annoying as im always checking my phone and my music stops playing when i open and close it

Everyone else who've posted here, can you confirm this is still happening on your end? If yes, please share the details requested above and make sure you have Background App Refresh enabled for the Spotify app in your phone's settings.

I just updated to version 9.0.86.1354

Same iPhone 13

Cleared cache and removed downloads

Restarted my phone

- Locking/unlocking the screen doesn't always temporarily pause playback, plus, some times it will make a glitchy/robotic noise
