Is there still a way to download music onto an iPod nano?

I read there was a way a few year ago, but te tutorial is outdated now. I have Spotify Premium. I have an old iPod I really need to put music on.

In the past, Spotify used to let you manage your own mp3's through it's app, and I don't know if it still lets you do it in the current version.

However, it had to be your own files, since in order to listen to Spotify's music you need the app installed, and that it's not possible to do in an iPod nano.
