Lag on iPhone 5S when switching apps or waking device

Within the past week or so I've noticed considerable lag with the iOS app when switching between apps or waking the device. I'll be listening to a song, tap the hope button to wake the device and it takes several seconds to play/pause/scroll, do anything really. Same thing when switching to another app and going back to Spotify. Anyone else having this issue? I've only noticed it the past few days, prior to that I had no issues with the app.
