Local files are broken

Once I upgraded to the latest version (yesterday), none of my local files would play.  So I deleted, restarted and reinstalled as per instructions, but local files still don't work.  None of the music on my computer is getting transferred to the iPhone.  Also, the setting of "Available Offline" doesn't save - restarting the Spotify app resets it back to "No".  Please help.

I found the answer, but there's still an issue.  Local files was not selected to sync in the desktop app (even though I never unchecked it).  But the real problem is that the iPhone doesn't show up in the Devices list over wifi - it only shows up when physically connected to the computer.
