Music not playing over cellular data

Music not playing over cellular data

I’m having a very similar issue. Basically, Spotify only works if I’m on WiFi, if I’m on cellular data, it thinks I’m offline.

I’ve tried clearing the cache, clearing downloads, reinstalling the app, updating iPhone to the latest OS, checked Spotify cellular data settings, checked iPhone’s Spotify settings to make sure cellular is allowed, confirmed it’s not my cellular data as YouTube and other apps work fine, and confirmed it’s only an issue when I’m on cellular data by turning WiFi on and off.

I’m on Spotify version 9.0.68, on an iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 18.6

Hey @Dalan1819,

Welcome to the Community. We moved your post from an old thread to a new one for visibility, hope you don't mind.

We appreciate all the troubleshooting you've done so far. To continue investigating it and just to make sure we covered all the basics, would you mind checking the Data saver status directly on your Spotify settings? To do so, tap on your Profile picture > Settings and privacy > Data-saving and offline > Data saver. It's commonly set on "Automatic" so we'd recommend changing it to "Off" to see if it makes any difference.

Also, we'd recommend changing the Cellular streaming quality to "Low" or "Automatic" to see if it makes any difference. You can find this option in your Profile picture > Settings and privacy > Media quality. It's also worth turning On/Off the toggle for Auto-Adjust to see if the issue persists.

Hope this helps. We'll be on the lookout.

Thanks for the recommendations Oscar, I tried them, but it still isn’t working: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15uPGwmOsrZ1jqrNZQ27DYBsgOPk6AXJC/view?usp=drivesdk

Hey @Dalan1819,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the video shared, it's really helpful.

To continue investigating this issue and to make sure we covered all the basics, it would be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists.

Also, we understand you’ve already tried some troubleshooting steps already including reinstalling, but to be sure that we're on the same page - did you use the steps for a clean reinstall mentioned in this article?

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

I’d second this issue, latest version of iOS and Spotify.

For the last month or so podcasts keep cutting out when I drive through dead spots and more annoyingly they don’t resume, ever. Just no sound until I pick something else to listen to.

It’s incredibly frustrating and definitely new. I’ve been listening to podcasts driving the same route for years and it’s only started recently.

Spotify being stingy with buffering to save data?

Hey @Xebu,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the thread.

We appreciate your report regarding this behavior. In order to have the complete information to keep investigating it internally, would you mind including in your next response the exact OS version of your device and the Spotify version you're currently running?

Also, include as well if you've performed any of the troubleshooting steps previously mentioned in the thread. If not, we'd recommend trying it to see if it makes any difference.

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

I logged out and deleted the app and logged in again (and performed a clean reinstall) some days ago, it did not work immediately or the day after, but now the app is working today, I don’t have the issue anymore. I’m not sure if any of the steps fixes it or if it eventually just fixed itself.

that’s it for me then, good luck to everyone else trying to fix this
