Spotify pausing when closing Facebook App

My Question or Issue

I’ve seen this question asked on other sites but it always seems to be be an issue when opening other apps, not closing. But is anyone else having an issue when using Spotify and as soon as you close Facebook, your Spotify audio pauses? I’ve stopped all in-app sounds in Facebook audio settings, uninstalled and reinstalled both apps, soft reset my phone after and yet its still an issue. My iOS is up to date, as are both apps in question.
Anyone have any suggestions or fixes for this issue? It’s become really annoying.

That is indeed not ideal. I'd recommend going to your account overview and logging into your account. Then head over to the manage apps section. If you see Facebook there, click remove access and see if that fixes anything.

I’m having the same issue.  Facebook was not listed in the manage apps section.

Facebook was not listed in any of the linked apps, just a few dating apps (which have now been removed). 
Looking back, this issue only started after Facebooks most recent update, and it only occurs if you directly open the Facebook app. If you open a Facebook link via Facebook messenger, the issue doesn’t not occur.

We did some digging here and it seems that this is an issue on the side of Meta, wherein closing or even minimizing the Facebook app causes any running audio-source to pause. This is not limited to Android devices but occurs on iOS as well.

Here's the ongoing Facebook thread, where users are describing the same issue.

With such an uproar, this might get fixed up fairly quickly. What we'd advise for now is to be on the lookout for new updates on Meta's side.

Where did you find the update for this? I’m not seeing the Facebook app as an app that needs updating.

My music keeps on pausing some times when I swipe out of an app (not Spotify). For example, when I swipe out of Facebook, my music stops playing. Right now, it’s just doing it for Facebook. But about 30 mins ago it was doing it for every app. I cleared cache, offloaded Spotify, deleted Spotify and restarted my device. Also, when I swipe down to view my lock screen, it sometimes pauses.

I have solved the problem by updating Facebook.  Go into your app store, open Facebook, update.

Thank you thank you! I had no idea that you could click on the app in the App Store to bring up an update page. I always thought it would have it on the main page with all the apps you’ve downloaded. 
JoJoSue and bmaull are correct. Updating the app fixes the issue. I just performed the update and Spotify no longer pauses when closing or swiping out of Facebook.

My Question or Issue

The music stops right away when opening another app (Facebook) and will not continue unless I close the other app and push play again in Spotify. In case of the iPad, the music stops right when I close the other app and I also have to push play again to listen to music. So Spotify "freezes" when another app is used pararell and I cannot listen to music while scrolling elsewhere.

Still an issue in Denmark with IOS 26.0.1 (both Facebook and Messenger updated) -I am browsing on a participant list of a Facebook event  an then moving over to notes -and every time Spotify stops playing

Looks like Meta fixed the issue did iOS. Just updated Facebook and no longer an issue for me.

When listening to Spotify, if I open the Facebook app, audio continues playing as normal. However, once I exit Facebook (either just minimize it or exit completely/clear it from the open apps screen), Spotify stops playing, and I have to go back into the app to resume audio. This issue does not occur with any other app. I have tried reinstalling both apps, and it did not resolve the issue.
