My Question or Issue
Today my Spotify randomly started pausing every time I would play a song. So I tried to clear the cache, uninstall and redownload it, change my password, update my phone to the latest iOS and it still is pausing. I measured the time in between the pauses and it is 30 seconds of play time on the dot, every time. I’m not sure what the cause of the problem is or how to fix it.

Hey @BRabs195,
Welcome to the thread!
This issue may be getting caused by third party apps (at one point Discord was the culprit), so, in order to check if this is the case - open this page when the issue is present and start removing accesses one by one.
Any apps can be re-added later, but I'd still advise taking some notes or a screenshot of which ones you have before you start removing those 🙂
Keep us posted on how things go. We'll be on the lookout!
I'd recommend performing a Clean Reinstall.
It also may be possible that your account is compromised, and someone is controlling your account from another location. I also recommend resetting your password.
@kaworu_bloodpaw I have attempted both of these things and neither of them has fixed the problem. Also a recent development, it was having this issue for a day, then the next day it worked properly and then the next day it started pausing again, same thing every 30 seconds on the dot.
Hi @galaxybear113,
Thanks for your post here in the Community, and welcome.
Does this happen only on the iOS device you mention? If you're not sure, try using Spotify on a different device and the Web Player, and let us know how that goes. Additionally, check if it happens with a different internet connection.
On another note, would you mind sending us a video recording of this behavior? You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.
We'll keep an eye out for your reply!
I can confirm that this is happening to me as well. I performed a clean install, updated the app, signed out everwhere using the button on desktop app, and changed password. It still pauses every 30 seconds on the dot on desktop, and mobile app.

My Question or Issue
My music pauses every like 30 seconds, I have tried logging out all devices, which works however I believe it's something to do with the app being open on my desktop which pauses playback even though i'm not using it. This basically makes it unlistenable if i forget to close it.
Hey @MysticDodo,
We merged your post to a similar thread, hope you don't mind!
Please take a look at my last comment in here and check if Discord or another third-party app is causing the described issue.
I have a pretty good feeling it's what we're looking for here 🙂
Keep us posted!
is there still no solution to this? I’ve been searching for months, I have tried literally every solution, searched through every forum on here and Reddit but nothing works.
It happens all the time but it’s especially annoying when I’m driving because it just stops playing and I can’t do anything to fix it so I just sit in traffic in silence
Hi there folks,
Thanks for your replies in this thread.
We understand you've already tried different steps to resolve the situation to no avail. Now, if case you haven't, try removing the access to all the apps you've connected to your account from here. You can easily reconnect your apps anytime. Once done, log back in and check if that makes a difference.
On another note, this could be account-related, so could you try logging in with a different account from one of your devices and check if it happens from there? If you don't have another account, you could ask a relative or friend to log in with their account for a bit, just to check.
Lastly, could you let us know the make, model, and OS version of the devices you're experiencing this on?
We'll be here.
I have a problem and It’s annoying. The music on Spotify plays when I stay on the app, but once I go to a different app after 10-30 seconds the music stops playing and it’s frustrating. I have an iPhone and tried deleting, reinstalling, turning off my phone, restarting my phone, clearing cache, it’s not a WiFi issue at all for me, I even logged out and logged into my account multiple times, turned off background refresh and turned it back on, but nothing is helping and honestly it’s getting me mad, if anyone can help with an actual solution please help!
This has happened to me too and lost playlists too. this is on family plan.....nightmare
