No sound on TV with apple tv 4k

Hi,

There is no sound from Spotify ios iphone app - airplay - apple

 tv 4k - HDMI - TV.

The artwork and music progression appears on tv but no sound.

All firm/software up to date, devices rebooted / reinstalled from scratch. 

setup works with other apps as Youtube, TED 

Older apple tv 2nd generation works fine as well.

If I launch spotify via the apple tv 4k app, then control via iphone app (synchronized accounts), sound OK until next runing off / on 

Can you please help?

It’s now Dec 8th, 2023 and Spotify STILL has not fixed the problem. Pretty unbelievable that a tech company can’t get their tech to work. 

Here we are still….

Audio plays fine on the TV. Plays fine through other apps, I can play Spotify on my phone, but no Spotify audio through the AppleTV.

I’m Ethernet connected, hardwired to the speakers, reset the router, turned everything off and on again. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. None of these are fixes it’s just busy work to try and make us think we’re fixing the problem.

Update:

Faster and easier to switch to Apple Music and their audio actually plays!

December 2023. Same problem here on 2 of my Apple TVs

The sound on the Apple TV box is fine with all other apps except Spotify. Its was working fine yesterday December 31st, but this morning i.e January 1st there is zero sound even if I control the app via my iPhone....why and how to fix it?

As I said in my post, yesterday the sound was perfect all day via the Apple TV unit, yet today being the first day of 2024 there is no sound. Is this simply a coincidence or a possible indicator of the problem. I have logged out and back into Spotify on the TV and on the phone and it makes no difference? All devices are on the same network and all other apps on the Apple TV box have sound.

Maybe it is just stupid but it get fixed today 25/01/2024 while searching for a solution I played a song in the Apple TV app (not sound as always) but then I opened the Apple Tv remote app in my iPhone and suddenly music started and know it is working properly, as if something regarding the remote app had a bug. Maybe it was just by chance but worth the try, good luck!

This issue has been introduced into the Spotify app (2024 02 12 version) for Apple TV: Issue overview: Spotify opens on Apple TV, progress bar moves but no audio. Apple TV no longer appears as an Available Device from any other Spotify App. All other streaming apps work and produce audio (Radio Paradise, Netfliix, Amazon TV etc...). This basic testing eliminates the Wifi, Router, TV, Apple TV and cabling as the issue - Spotify App for Apple TV appears to be the issue connecting/broadcasting itself into the Available Devices. First time experiencing this issue, has worked without issue prior to today.

I was having the same issue. No sound on Apple TV Spotify app. I brought up Spotify on my iPhone, started playing music and guess what? The sound on Spotify on my Apple TV kicked in! Seems like you are unable to fix a problem happening for MANY years!
