Offline Sync Issues

Offline Sync Issues

I've been using Spotify Premium for a few months on my iPhone 4 (and now 5), but recently had to reinstall the app after I had to have my phone wiped.  Upon reinstalling the app, I went to make my playlists available offline - but I'm having major problems.  Some songs will start syncing, and then all of a sudden they'll start getting an orange circl with an exclamation point in it.  No songs will sync after this occurs.  I've turned my phone on and off twice, and have signed in and out - which does not fix the problem.  The community posts I've seen say that the issues from yesterday have been resolved - is this something new? Please help!

Hi mrm8525, I had a similar issue awhile back when I was changing computers. I synced a bunch of Local Files stored on my old laptop to my iPhone and when I switched to the new laptop that didn't have the songs downloaded, my iPhone displayed those songs with orange exclamation points. You might be having the same issue if you recently switched or if you deleted the Local Files on your computer that you synced. --> To fix this issue just download / sync the music to your computer again.

If you're talking about playlists that don't include Local Files I would recommend following Qluraqan's advice on this thread http://goo.gl/QOLU1

Let me know if this helps.

The songs are all files from Spotify - not local.  And I tried completely uninstalling the app and reinstalling as well! Same problem...

Okay well that's a little harder to diagnose.

I'm a college student and my university has universal wifi everywhere on campus. The problem is that networks such as these have plenty of barriers and ports blocked for numerous security and other reasons that might be interfering with the syncing process. The same issues occur on other public or widely used wifi networks for example at work or starbucks, etc.

Basically, If you're currently using a network like those described, that could be what's causing your issue.

For me, syncing on my private wifi network at home works perfectly, especially for Local Files (... I have a lot).

If you don't have access to a private wifi network another solution is to turn off wifi on your iPhone and plug it into your laptop using the USB cable and attempt to sync directly that way. Some users reported having some success with this.

If that doesn't work, you can try a total reinstall of the Spotify app. Essentially, you uninstall the app on the iPhone, and the app on the Mac, and then you uninstall the Spotify app file in iTunes. Than, obviously you re-install all. It's time consuming but it might do the trick.

Don't have that problem - I was using it on my private wireless at home and at work.  Still having the problem today - really disappointed, I have a 7 hour flight tonight and was counting on being able to listen to my playlists.

On the spotify application on your computer does your iPhone appear under Devices?

Even if my phone and computer are connected to the same wifi, if my iPhone "Evan's iPhone" doesn't appear under Devices, none of my local files will sync.

You might also see this screen if Devices isn't expanded:
