Offline - shuffle - stops playing, but app says still playing.

I ride a motorbike and often ride with my headphones in and Spotify playing on offline mode.

However, since moving from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5s (both with the latest iOS), it's develoepd a problem. The music plays back fine, but it will then reach a random track and will seemingly be stuck. The app thinks that the song's playing (I've got the option of pausing the track, in spite of it not actually playing), but in reality it's not. If I skip the song, the app's then fine and plays normally.  If I don't skip, the song will remain "playing" indefinitely. 

So, the issue is that when you're riding a motorbike you can't really reach the skip/fast foward button, leaving me bereft of music... 

Any idea what's wrong?

I have no idea whats wrong but a possible solutin is a pair of headphones with controls on them?

Are any of the tracks this happens on local files synced over from your desktop Spotify?

Nope - the entire playlist is straight from Spotify itself...
