Phone does not respond to home button

I use Spotify on my iPhone 5.  I get this bug often, though not always.  When playing music with the screen locked, sometimes, when I press the home button, nothing happens.  The phone does not respond at all.  If I press the home button a second time, it will ask for the passcode.  (The normal behaviour is that one press will wake the screen, and the second will bring up the passcode prompt).  This only ever happens when using Spotify.  Sometimes I can start Spotify, lock the phone, then immediately try to wake it and have this happen.  This has been going on for months, across many different Spotify updates.  

Anyway, is there some way you can fix this?  It's very annoying, especially since it's so inconsistent.

This sounds like an issue with your phone rather than Spotify, as the Spotify app doesn't have the ability to override and stop the functions of buttons on your phone.  I would contact Apple to get assistance on the issues you are experiencing with your home button.  Here is a link to Apple's iPhone Support page!
