Play button always switch on shuffle mode

Play button always switch on shuffle mode

If I click the play button in any album Spotify plays songs in shuffle mode. If I disable shuffle mode and switch to another album shuffle is back on. Means Spotify never plays an album or playlist from the beginning. I already reinstalled Spotify. This error doesn’t happened if I use the webplayer or if I switch to my wife’s account. I use Spotify on iOS and have the newest version installed.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to help you enjoy your music in the desired order.

If you're using the button at the top of a playlist or album to start it, this might be the reason for the behaviour. There should be a button next to it where you can select the shuffle mode and if it's enabled, this is why it's shuffling. Perhaps the different settings you have there is why your account has the issue and your wife's doesn't. Also consider starting the playback by tapping the first song instead.

Hope this helps.

Hi Joan, thanks for getting back. I know there is a button for enabling shuffle mode next to the play button. But even with shuffle disabled Spotify is using shuffle mode when I press the play button. Attached to this post you’ll find a screenshot. There is no way to use the play button without shuffling my music.

Hi @glomeg132,

Thanks for the reply and the screenshot.

What happens when you tap the first song (or any other song) in the given album/playlist instead of using the big button at the top? Does it play the desired track and keep shuffle off then?

Also be aware of this Ongoing Issue. If the behaviour described there is what you have, please provide the requested details and keep an eye on the thread for further updates.

If I press a desired song in the title list it plays the correct song. The error only happens when I use the big play button.

I disabled smart shuffle so my problem is different.

Hi @glomeg132,

Thanks for the reply.

Let's cover the basics - please perform a full clean reinstall if you haven't already. If this is just some sort of temporary technical hiccup, this should clear it. If the issue does persist afterwards, please clarify if the behaviour happens or changes depending on if you change the shuffle setting from the toggle near the play button at the top or from the Now Playing View itself.

Hi Joan, I did a full clean reinstall but this doesn’t help. The funny thing is that I can’t use the shuffle button because it’s greyed out. I can’t enable it. I can enable shuffle in the playing window after I start playing any song. What’s really weird is that if I login to my wife’s account the error is gone. And the settings are all the same. I signed up to Spotify premium with a three month free trial. Maybe this has something do do with it? On the other hand the play button works when I use the webplayer. So this only happens with iOS.

Few days ago the error is fixed. Don't know if there was an iOS update recently but it works.
