My Question or Issue
Ever since the last update every time my AirPods connect or disconnect my current playing playlist stops playing completely and the queue is erased.
Hey there @Shadowhunter072,
Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.
Just to confirm, is this only happening on your iPhone or on other devices as well? We'd also like to know if you can replicate the same issue while using different Bluetooth devices.
If this only happens on your iPhone, it's well worth running a clean reinstall to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.
We'll be waiting for your reply.
Hey @Shadowhunter072,
Thanks for your reply.
Could you let us know if this only happens on your phone? Also, have you tried reinstalling the app following the steps I sent previously?
On another note, we'd like to know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update.
Keep us posted.
This also happens to me after the last iOS Spotify update to 8.8.2. Every time I get in my car and it goes to auto play it last loses the now playing and entire queue. Very frustrating!
Hi @griffiju,
Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community.
Could you try performing a clean reinstall of the app on your phone by following the steps I sent above?
If this doesn't do the trick, would you mind asking a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your phone to check if the same happens with a different account?
Keep us posted on how it goes.
This has happened to me twice now. I drive to church and shuffle some artist. But on the way home, I get in the car, and open my spotify app (which has been open in the background if that matters. I haven't closed it, changed the music or anything. Just paused it)
However, when music starts playing, it is not what I had playing. It is random songs, most of which I listen to, but not all. The playlist is labeled as blank. The shuffle button is no longer active.
I actually kind of enjoy it. It's almost entirely music I've listened to. So I'm not complaining about it. But I don't understand what is going on. And if anything, I don't understand what I do to get it to play.
Hi @Ikroeker,
Do you connect to your car's stereo via bluetooth? If so, this behavior seems to be related to the particular device you're connecting your phone to. For example, when I'm at home and I connect my phone to my integrated amp (or earbuds) via Bluetooth, Spotify doesn't start playing automatically when I open the app. However, if I'm connected to my car's head unit, it will continue the playback as soon as I open the app.
Currently, there isn't a toggleable setting for this, but it looks like an idea about such a feature has already been submitted here, so feel free to check it out and share your feedback.
The Community is always here if there's anything else you need assistance with.
Take care.
Also happens on android, when I connect my bluetooth in the car. Very irritating..
This has been happening to me too over the last week or two. Every time I turn my car on, it will cancel whatever was playing in my last session (could have been five minutes before), and play the first song listed on my "liked songs" playlist. E.g. if I play an album or playlist, then pause and leave the car for a few minutes, when I get back in it will play the first song on the liked songs playlist.
