My Question or Issue
On the mobile app I am unable to view the full description of a playlist. I can see the first two lines and then it cuts off. I have tried clicking it to see if it would open but it just highlights the text. I was just wondering if anyone else was having this issue or a way to fix it
I use Spotify premium on an IPhone, I want to read a description of a playlist but it’s too long so cuts off and I cannot figure out how to read all of it. Can someone please explain how I can read it? Thanks
Hey there @CaitMcF,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this - we'll be glad to help you out here.
Just to confirm, have you tried a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your iPhone? We recommend this step as it'll remove the old drivers first and then install the new ones. It'll also get you the latest version of Spotify.
These changes tend to solve issues like the one you're experiencing. Give your device a quick restart as well before you open the newly installed app.
Also, do you mind sending us a screenshot of the cut-off playlist description? We couldn't reproduce the behavior you described on our side. Once you attach a screenshot to your next response, we'll be able to take a closer look at the issue.
We'll look out for your reply.
Hi there!
I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.
Also, could you share any screenshots of the issue you're having if that didn't solve it for you?
If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?
I'll see what I can suggest next!
I restarted my phone and reinstalled the app but I'm still having the same issue. I don't know if Spotify is just like that or if it's supposed to let me see the whole description. The long ones just end in (...) and I cant expand them.
iOS 13.4.1 and Spotify 8.5.55.856
Hey @jaximus,
Thanks for the reply!
It seems Spotify's aware of this issue and is working on a fix but they don't have an exact timeline when that will happen.
In the meantime I suggest you keep an eye for any updates that may come.
Take care 🙂

It's mid-November now. I'm running Android 11. It's the latest version of Spotify because I just did a clean install. Nothing has fixed this cut-off playlist description problem. The field limits descriptions to 300 characters when you make a playlist. Only about half of that displays on my phone.

This seemed to work for me on my android phone: Try keeping your finger on the description section and slowly moving your finger left and right, this should scroll the text up and down to reveal the full length of the description.

Amazing that this bug has been in place for well over a year. It is frustrating that you can't read the full the description of playlists, especially those created by artists and independent labels. I'm using iPhone IOS 14.8 and have restarted my phone before checking again.
Is there a fix for this?

Sorry, but copying and pasting the description to read it isn't a solution. And, this doesn't even work on IOS.
How about Spotify just change the format so that you can expand the Playlist description?
Please please fix this bug. It is really important to me that I can read the playlist descriptions and this seems like it should be an easy fix. I’m a premium member.
This issue—plus jumping through the 10 hoops it took for me to make this post about this issue—makes me feel like I’m in the twilight zone.
