Podcasts rewinding themselves

occasionally my podcasts will rewind themselves with no effect on the timer and start repeating parts I already listened to. Since there is no effect on the timer, I can’t finish the episode because it will sometimes go back 5 minutes, and then I lose the last 5 minutes of the episode. It happens regardless if I’m connected to CarPlay or not and if I uninstall/reinstall the app.

Does this rewinding happen just at the end of the episode or at random parts of the podcast? Also, let us know if you're playing the episode on normal playback speed or using other settings.

It’ll happen anywhere in the middle and I’m listening to it at normal speed!

I’ve also experience this problem, on multiple shows and episodes. Unfortunately, also across Apple Podcasts, Overcast and Pocket Casts. I don’t think it is unique to Spotify.

Are you connected to an external device, for example a speaker, when this is happening? If you're using the mobile app, it's worth checking if you experience the same in the desktop app and the Web Player, as well as on another account if possible. 

Can you also try downloading the episode you sent and checking if it's rewinding certain parts? A clean reinstall is also a good idea in order to remove some unnecessary cache and make sure your app is up-to-date.

This has happened to me for years on a variety of devices, including iOS, Android, Windows 10, 11, Chromecast, and more, connected to bluetooth devices, playing in the browser, in the desktop app.

I never thought until today to actually look into it.

I usually don't notice it has happened until I have a deja vu moment, and I'm like.. "wait.. I just heard this.. "
