My Question or Issue

When I’m listening to over 12 hours podcasts, the app suddenly stops it after the 12 hours mark. It marks the whole thing as listened, and skips to the next one. I can still listen to however many others I want, for multiple hours, but not past somewhere around that mark. If I try to skip to anywhere beyond that mark, it just doesn’t load it and then skips it.

Hey Henrique, just jumping in here, I've noticed the same issue with long podcasts getting cut off around the 12-hour mark. It’s like the app treats anything past that point as the end, even if there’s still content left. I tried scrubbing past 12 hours, too, and had the same result, it just skips to the next episode. Seems like it might be a playback limit or bug in the app. Hopefully, Spotify can look into it and push a fix. You're not the only one seeing this.

Hi there @Henrique_Samorini,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be happy to look into this podcast anomaly for you.

It'll be challenging to reproduce this issue on our end, so we'll need as much info from you as possible. Could you please provide us the following:

  • Does the podcast episode itself have to be over 12 hours long or does this happen when you've cumulatively listened to at least 12 hours worth of podcasts?
  • Is this on all devices or only on specific one(s) like the iPhone you mentioned? If you haven't tested on other devices, please do so.
  • When did this start happening? Did it work properly before?
  • A video of the behaviour. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

Hello,

The podcast episode itself has to be that long. I can listen to other super long audios as much as I want, but when an individual podcast crosses that threshold, it just stops, and then skips to the next thing on queue. If I attempt to manually go over, to say, 13 hours, it just won't load.

This is only happening on phones apparently. When I attempted to listen to it on Spotify web, it just works normally.

I only noticed this like a couple of weeks ago. I'm listening to audio readings of classical books, and it first happened on the Illiad (Classic Audiobook Collection is the name of the podcast channel). When it reached the 12 hour mark, it just would not cross it, and skip. I thought it was just a bug and ignored it. Now I'm listening to The Three Musketeers, uploaded by the same guys. It is like 25 hours long, but, of course, I can't get past the accursed 12 hour mark.

Here's the link for the video: https://youtube.com/shorts/O9f26VENWFM?feature=share . As you can see, it loads it normally (now apparently even up to 13 hours, it's really inconsistent when it just stops). But when I try to load a point past however many hours, it just won't load. I can't record until it suddenly stops because it could take long, but you get the idea. At some point it just doesn't load anymore.

Another thing is that when the bug happens, it marks the podcast as read and says it has 7 hours and 45 minutes. It actually has over 25 hours, and this duration appears correctly in the duration bar below when it starts playing.

Thank you for your help.

Hey @Henrique_Samorini

Thanks for the detailed explanation, we could replicate this on our end with the same podcasts.

In this case, we suggest that you report this by following the specific steps here

Hope this helps. If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.

Yeah, but surprisingly I didn't find much information about it online. That's why I made the post. Hope they fix it!

My Question or Issue

I am listening to an audiobook ("The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas ~ Full Audiobook" from Classic Audiobook Collection) which is on the platform in the format of a podcast. I am at about the 14:34:00 mark, and it positively will not load to or past that point. It will load on my computer in the browser, but when I then try to switch to my phone it marks the podcast as finished and skips to the next item. If I try to start it on my phone, it will frequently say that the podcast is about 7 hours long -- which is not true -- as well as restart me.
