I’m having an issue where the Spotify Messages feature has disappeared completely from my main Premium account, even though my second non-Premium account on the same device still has full access to Messages. The screenshots show my non-Premium account with the Messages option still visible under Social Features, while my Premium account no longer shows Messages anywhere in the settings. When I try to send something to my Premium account from the other one, I get an error saying I need to accept a message request, but the Premium account no longer has any Messages interface to accept anything.
Both accounts are on the same iPhone, running the same Spotify version, and using the same network, so nothing about the device or app setup explains the difference. It appears that my Premium account was removed from the server-side feature flag that enables Messages, even though my free account still has it.
Since I’m paying for Premium, it’s confusing that the feature was removed from that account while a non-Premium account on the exact same device still has it. I’m trying to find out whether this was intentional or if my main account was accidentally excluded from the rollout.
Why was Messages removed from my Premium account while it still works on my non-Premium account on the same device?
Hey @LogosJogos, thanks for reaching out to the Community!
You can access the Messages feature following these steps.
You can access the Messages section of the app by tapping your profile picture on the top left corner of your Home screen. From the screenshot it looks like the friend you’d like to send a Message to has not accepted the request. Once they accept a message request, they’ll be able to emoji-react, text, and seamlessly share Spotify content back and forth with you.
If you’re unable to access other Premium features, please follow these steps.
Let me know how this goes!
Here’s the issue I’m running into:
I have two Spotify accounts.
Account A (Premium) does not have the Messages feature at all. There is no Messages tab, no toggle, and no option to accept message requests.
Account B (Free) does have the Messages feature, including the toggle and message requests.
This creates a problem:
Account B can send message requests to Account A, but Account A has no way to accept them, because the Messages feature simply isn’t available on that account.
I’ve already tried all standard troubleshooting steps (logging out, reinstalling the app, different devices, etc.). Nothing changes. The feature is missing entirely on the Premium account.
Because the Messages feature is clearly enabled on one account but not the other, it looks like a rollout flag issue on Spotify’s side.
Like do I have to wait for the feature to be enabled for my Premium account? I can’t accept any requests until it has a toggle in settings.
I accidentally turned my messages off while in my settings and then the option completely disappeared and now is nowhere to be found. No amount of redownloading the app or opening and closing makes any difference. I did not change any regions or any settings whatsoever, I merely just accidentally clicked the toggle option and it was gone. Why? I want that option back asap.
Same thing happened to me, no idea why
