Remove from playlist function missing in ios

My #1 complaint about Spotify has been that it's so difficult to remove a song from a playlist. The longer the playlist, the harder the needle-in-a-haystack process of finding the song to remove it. Last night I discoverd that my girlfriend has the miraculous option of removing the song by pressing the three dots in the "now playing" screen. This option is missing in mine. (see screenshot)

I've been troubleshooting all day trying to find out why this is missing from my iphone and not her's. I've fiddled with settings of the playlists themselves (public vs private, collaborative vs not, etc) to no avail. I've reinstalled the app. signed out of all devices and relogged in. I've made sure app and ios are up-to-date. I've disconnected from Facebook. No luck.

Please help. Why is the "remove from playlist" feature missing on my iphone?
