Removing downloads doesn't reduce storage space on iPhone 6

For the second time this month I've had to delete and reinstall the Spotify app (6.5.0.1655) on my iPhone (iOS 10.0.2) just so I can free up storage space that iOS "thinks" Spotify is taking up. Today on the "Manage Storage" screen under Settings>General>Storage & iCloud Usage it said that Spotify was consuming 436 MB of storage with only about 35 songs downloaded for offline listening (I'm a Premium subscriber). I removed the downloads, restarted the app, and the storage STILL said 436 MB. After deleting and reinstalling the app it's now down to 103.9 MB, but it still includes 31.2 MB of "Documents & Data" and I haven't downloaded ANY songs since reinstalling the app!
I've seen several similar reports on the forum and that there's a request for an iOS "Clear Cache" feature (last updated in May 2015), but haven't seen any solution or satisfactory response from Spotify on what seems to be a pretty serious bug. This didn't use to happen during earlier iOS versions so I'm wondering if this is an issue with iOS 9 (when I first noticed this issue) or 10 compatibility.
Has anyone figured out a solution to this, or I doomed to constant app reinstalls to save space on my phone? Spotify, PLEASE address this!
