I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.

Could you also try using the Sign Out Everywhere and Remove Offline Devices from your Spotify account page?

I'd suggest updating to iOS 13 as well. 

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

wth!?!?! Yesterday I started having exactly the same and extremely rare behavior. Who is "Weldon S. Kesterson"??!?! I kill them! I do not know them and I want to stop playing constantly on my ears and in a boring way, and I am one step away from going to YT Music if I can not solve it in the next few hours! The problem (bug?) Is systematically produced both in my Huawei P20 PLus (Android 9) and in my MacBook Air (Mojave 10.14.6) over Chrome...so I think is a preaty (multi or I could say omnichannel) bug, but... WHY ME?!??! I need listen my music pleaaseeee!!! HELPPPPPP!!!
