Spotify app not connecting to Chromecast devices

My Question or Issue

The last month the Spotify app has intermittently not connected to my google speakers to play audio. 
Also does not work with Yamaha MusicCast. 

haven’t had issues in the past. Used the web page to play and that worked.

Same here.  Single Riva Arena speakers connect fine.  Speaker groups that previously connected using Chromecast, no longer connect after a long (a minute or so) of trying. All other hardware and software unchanged, connecting to the speaker groups from Apple Music works perfectly.  This points to a Spotify regression in a recent release.

Are you playing off a playlist? I got it to work just playing a single track and then a playlist with a couple of thousand tracks. Playing my normal playlist with 9000+ doesn’t now work.

Exactly the same here. Riva Arena Speakers.

Worked in the past, same behaviour on Android and iPadOS.

VLC works.

Google Home App wrongly says „Spotify steaming“, but no music

Very annoying.

No playlist.

The forum software crashes too, btw. Posting the second time now.
