Spotify automatically starts playing when brought into focus on an iPhone

Whenever I switch to Spotify on my iPhone it takes over and starts playing automatically. This occurs ONLY when connected to my bluetooth speakers. I've synched Spotify to my speakers via my phone for years and this only recently started happening. This bug makes it impossible to search for a song on Spotify while a song is playing in iTuenes.

This is extremely aggravating. I actually threw my iPhone against the floor of my car in a rage when it happened because I was on the search page and couldn’t quickly press pause or stop and the radio was up loud. Happens every single time, yet I still get surprised by it sometimes.
