Spotify data usage suddenly way too high

Spotify data usage suddenly way too high

Hi all,

I've listened to Spotify on high quality on my iPhone for years and never had any problems, and now suddenly it uses like 30mb for ten songs on normal quality. That's 3mb per song. I drive an hour to and from work 3-5 times a week and I listen to Spotify. I didn't realize until all my data was used up and had to have it completely shut off for my phone. Not a happy camper. I have already searched through solutions posted for others with this problem and the consensus was "reinstall" but that hasn't fixed my problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

This just happened to me starting mid July 2017. I was playing some songs for a friend while we were driving around and later that day I got a notice I had used all my data. About 500 Mb for 2-3 hours tops. I've been a Premium member for 4+ years and never had anything like this happen. In the week following, while using almost zero Spotify on my mobile device, I'm up to 1 GB. I haven't used 1 GB of Spotify in any month, ever, no matter how heavy my use. I'm irate.

Yep that's exactly what happened to me. I was very unhappy when I had to literally not use data for a whole month because of the Spotify spike. It seems to continuously use data even if I'm playing saved songs, so the only way to stop it is to turn off cellular data for Spotify.

Which means I can only listen to songs saved ahead of time now, no Spotify radio or wanting to listen to something different when I'm not home.
