Spotify keeps opening and closing Google Maps while driving

For a while now, Spotify has been doing something kind of dangerous. While I drive and am actively navigating via Google Maps, my Spotify app will take over my IOS screen and send my Google Maps navigation to the background. Whenever, I switch it back to navigation, Spotify will continue to take over the screen in a couple seconds. The only way to disable this is to shut down Spotify in the background. Is there any way to prevent Spotify from doing this while also listening to it like normal? Also, does it matter that I am using a Car Thing as well? This is driving me crazy

Just to confirm, is this happening only when you're listening to a Spotify content via Bluetooth or when you're using a cable too?

On another note, we suggest you make sure that the OS of your phone is up to date. Go to your General -> Settings and check if there is a pending update for your device. If you see one, make sure to install it.  Additionally, it's well worth reinstalling the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. This'll also get you the latest Spotify version with all necessary updates and fixes and remove any corrupted files from previous installations that might be interfering with the app's performance.
