Spotify playing but can't hear on bluetooth device

Have used Spotify Premium for years. Play Spotify music on helmet Sena 10U head set from iPhone 12 via Bluetooth. Recently when I start music, it is playing on iPhone but no sound on Sena 10U. The only way to fix is to pull over, and hit fast forward to next song on iPhone. Then it starts. Have disconnected and re-connected Bluetooth.

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Have you tried a different Bluetooth headset so you can rule out device related issues? Check if the current headset has some pending updates or reset it to its factory settings. Also try using a different mobile device so we can be sure the issue is not related to the iPhone.

Same issue 

other Bluetooth work just not Sena 
note. this occurred when switching from an iPhone 15 pro to a 16 pro.  15 pro worked fine. 
Spotify is not recognizing the Sena 10r on the iPhone 16.  other Bluetooth headsets are recognized (and car stereo and home speaker)
also should note the phone does recognize the sena.  i can use it for voice commands and phone calls and Apple music.  it is just the Spotify app that does not recognize it.
