Spotify playing even if closed?

Every night I close my apps before I go to sleep. When I get up and put my phone and earbuds in my pocket, eventually the pause/play button on my earbuds gets pressed on accident and then for some reason music starts playing? I'll take my phone and make sure Spotify is closed, and it is yet it's still playing music. How do I stop this?

Depending on your phone manufactuer and your phone settings, plugging the headphones in might cause a music app to launch. Some phones have a few local music files for demo. If the headphone buttons were inadvertantly pressed, it might trigger this music to play. I've experienced this before. If you check your phone settings, you might be able to control what happens when headphones are plugged in.
