My Question or Issue

I'm trying to sort a playlist so it gradually gets more energetic, and followed the advised use of Spotify sort your music, selected the correct playlist and arranged this with the bpm- every time I go to save this, this darn message appears 'Trouble saving tracks to the playlist'  ughhhh

There's a lot of music in it so would really help not to have to do it manually! Help! Thanks 🙂

Hey @b03,

Thanks for reaching out!

Looks like the users in this thread had a similar issue and using a different browser seemed to help, so feel free to try that as well (or with another device), if you haven't already.

If you're using another external service, you can perhaps match the provided order of the tracks by manually reordering them in your playlist directly in the Spotify app. You'll find more info on how to change the custom order of your playlist in this article.

Cheers 🤘

This does not seem brower related. Having the same issues with Opera, Edge and Firefox.

Javascript console says:

Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'http://smarterplaylists.playlistmachinery.com/logger/log?log=save|spotify:playlist:xxxxxxxxxxxxxx|artist%20separation|asc' from origin 'http://sortyourmusic.playlistmachinery.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: Response to preflight request doesn't pass access control check: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

I've used different browsers and devices, disabled ad-blockers, changed playlists from private to public and nothings working still .. I want to sort playlists in alphabetical order and overwrite my existing ones but I still get this error message even if I try to create a new playlist (it appears on my account but only the title and the playlist is empty). 😕

I'm having the same issue as well. Not browser-related either. Chrome, Safari, Firefox here.

Same

Still an issue and not a browser issue, please advise or fix bug ASAP if possible we use it for our genre playlists which needed to be updated at the beginning of the week, haven't been able to find other solutions that can overwrite existing playlists...

Hey there folks,

Thanks for posting in this thread!

Keep in mind that this 3rd party app is not officially launched by Spotify. This means that we cannot guarantee its functions and performance.

In this case, we recommend checking this Support article, which contains some more details on how to sort and manage your playlists in the Spotify app.

Hope this clears things up! Cheers.

thanks Maria, I understand that the app is a 3rd party, but that article you've linked is entirely unrelated and unhelpful to the function that "sort your music" provides.

we only use 3rd party apps because spotify doesn't have the minimum functionalities expected

contact whoever manages the third party service instead of harping on mods.

alternative for those too lazy:

https://www.chosic.com/spotify-playlist-sorter/

This is also an alternative: https://www.sortbytune.com/

It would appear that this issue is a problem with the API endpoint that the service uses. The one in the code has been deprecated. There's a PR open in the gh repo for the project (https://github.com/plamere/SortYourMusic/pull/54), but the code owners haven't yet approved it. All that needs to happen is one of the two code owners sees it and approves it.

Anyone with the interest in contacting them should obviously be courteous when doing so. I was not able to find either code owner on Facebook, and messaging is now behind a paywall on LinkedIn, and I'm not willing to pay for a month of LinkedIn Premium just to message Mr. Lamere.

Agreed. Looks like multiple users have reached out on X. Maybe we'll get a response or a fix! 🙂

has anyone found an alternative that lets you overwrite playlists? so far i've only found websites that create new playlists

I have not found an alternative that overwrites playlists. If you have Spotify on a desktop device (PC or laptop) then you can delete all songs on the original playlist (ctrl+a then delete) and copy and paste the songs on the newly created playlist into the old one. An easier method would be to make the new playlist look like the original. SortYourMusic doesn't appear to be fixed yet, so this is the best alternative I'm aware of.

Hola cómo están? Lo que a mí me funciona es usa la web organize your music. Solo que hay que copiar la URL de la playlist y asi poder sobre escribir la playlist. De nada!!!

Sort Your Music has been fixed today.
To quote the developer: "Sorry for being so slow to respond, busy month!"

We're back, baby!! 🎉

Sort away, friends.
