I have been using Spotify for at least a year on this old iPad a friend gave it. It has worked perfectly. The other day it simply stopped connecting. The WiFi on the device still works, because Chrome can still connect.  The spotify account works on other devices.

 

I have tried the following:

  • Going Offline / Online
  • Soft reset
  • Power on / off
  • Clean uninstall / reinstall
  • Different WiFi connection
  • Logging on with a different account on the same device

 Has there been some kind of Spotify software update that has made this stop working?  What else can I try?

Hey @Rocketmagnet Welcome to the Spotify Community!

 

I just checked on my first gen iPad and it seems like the recent update has made the first gen iPad obsolete. What you can try doing is going to the Webplayer and listen to your music from there. I tried doing this on mine but my safari keeps crashing. Hopefully you can use it on your end.

Can I go back to before the update?

 

This is a real shame because the perfect application for an old iPad is to just be **bleep** to the wall to act as a music centre.

Unfortunately there are no current methods for installing an older version of Spotify.
