My Question or Issue
Hello,
Since some weeks I have (not always but more often) following strange behavior:
Why does Spotify switches automatically to a another system? How can I change this behavior?
I’m providing helpful information and diagnostic numbers and my post keep on being deleted. Why ?
Sorry @berlinedeluxe the system thought your posts were Spam, thanks for the information you've shared.
I am having the same issue at home too - it will happen with Spotify but also if I’m watching tiktok it randomly switch to my portable Sonos and be blasting the tiktok video sound in another part of the house - I have to keep Bluetooth off on my phone or it just randomly connects - also I shut it off all the time and it is always turning itself on - highly annoying!! What kind of bug is this?
Hey folks,
Thank you for your reports.
This is currently being investigated by internal teams. In this case, would you mind including in your next response the model of your Sonos?
We'll be around.
Ive been having the same issue, multiple times a day since i bought my Era 100 speakers a few months ago.
It happens both when im not at home listening on my phone, as well as when im at home playing music on my PC.
Last time it happened was 2023-08-26 15:25
Sonos diagnostics 1953037160
I’m having the same issue. makes sonos & spotify completely unusable. just today, my wife was driving while i was watching the sleeping babies, and her god awful music started blaring from the sonos speakers at home for some reason.
Same issue as everyone else.
Spotify v 8.8.64.554.
Spotify support is not helpful. Yes its plugged in. Yes its the latest version. (you cant even have an older version on your phone). Spotify needs to add a feature to 'lock' the device in use, and/or fix the bug that switches the output to Sonos. Also, not just Sonos, this happens to me on other bluetooth speaker devices connected through my phone.
I’m still having the same issue but now anytime it switches and plays on Sonos, it goes to the beginning of the playlist and messes up where I was, making the issue twice as bad. Makes it even more unusable

Hello, since friday afternoon CET we rolled out a temporary remediation in our cloud that we hope addresses this issue for selected users. There is a side effect in that the Play button on the device is disabled when trying to "steal" playback from another device, but we hope that is an acceptable trade off given the circumstances. Many of you here in this thread should be served this remediation.
Please let us know if you noticed any improvement (or degradation) over the weekend.
That seems to have fixed the issue for me, thanks!
The issue seems to be fixed for me. Thanks for taking it seriously and all the effort you guys put in!
Hi Magnus,
i just got a new Sonos strayed last week. Everything is updated and all that, but the problem is still there. I was not one of the “selected” users who got the fix…to my knowledge.
pleas help me
Hi there,
I have been reading through these conversations and I am having the same problems. Several times an hour I suddenly stop hearing music as Spotify has changed from AirPods/portbabke Bluetooth speakers to my Sonos Era 100 speakers at home with no one being in it at the time. This can be really fustratibg.
Could I please be included in the selected users to get this fix?
thank you very much.
I don't have a Sonos, but suddenly the PC app is stealing playback from the Android Auto in my car. Obviously I can close down the PC app, but it never used to do this.
Hey @IndianaRed,
Thanks for joining in!
It seems your issue is slightly different and looks more like the one in this thread.
It's a good idea to share your info there as well 🙂
And, @Andre505 & @Marielouise - we've reached out to the right folks!
If the issue is still present, it should go away soon.
Keep us posted on how things go!
Happens with Amazons Echo Dot as well, stealing playback when it was started in a car every few minutes. As of 10/20/2023, still a problem
Hey @Jasond394948213,
We've reached out on your behalf as well 🙂
Keep your apps up to date and the issue should go away soon.
Thanks!
Hey @Jasond394948213,
Can you tell us a bit more what happens? And give an example of when it happened (and in what timezone you are)?
This particular thread is about a Sonos issue, so I want to understand what happens for you.
Regards, Magnus
Is there a way to make it not to automaticly switch when connected to spotify instead of removing access every time?
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
