Strange behaviour spotify app on Ipod touch 3

Strange behaviour spotify app on Ipod touch 3

Since a few weeks I am experiencing very annoying behaviour of my Ipod Spotify app.

Some symptoms:

- Some playlists are completely or partially greyed out. When I try to play a 'grey' song, it tells me the song is not available on spotify. But it shows correct on any other device (2 PC's, 1 Mac, 2 Android devices). I am 100% sure these songs do not exist locally on these machines or synched for offline use.

- When I search a song (search function) it will play for a number of minutes, and then the app often crashes (or after playing 1 or 2 songs).

However, playing from a playlist usually works fine (though not allways, see below)

- Sometimes playing a playlist works for 1 or 2 songs, then the playback halts. The progress bar gets grey, and nothing happens. It is not an issue with internet connectivity, since selecting another song immediately starts the playback.

I tried all the recommended, including clearing the cache/history and reinstalling the spotify app, all to no avail.

Today I did a factory restore of the Ipod. The only app I installed was the spotify app. Allas, the problem persists.

I have an Ipod touch V3, IOS 4.2.1 and Spotify version 0.4.26.1

I am gettng very frustrated now! Any help/suggestion is welcome.

Regards,

Peter

Some additional info.

I use my Ipod mainly to stream audio over my stereo. Usually I don't sync to local playlist.

Nevertheless I did some testing. I synced some playlist.

Playing these in normal mode did not enhance the situation. After 1-3 tracks the app crashed again.

However, when I switched Spotify to offline mode, the fault stayed away (at least during playing 3 playlists).

Seems to have something to do with my profile? I have quite a few playlists (some 200) but don't think that is extreme?

Anyone a golden idea?

I don't think that is too many playlists, plus you wouldn't think it would be loading playlist data when you where already playing one. I'm wondering is the Spotify application getting corrupt data or something else about the incoming stream is making it unhappy - all I can think to suggest is use Offline Playlists as much as possible!

Unfortunately the options are extremely limited since Spotify for iOS 4 is now a legacy application (Spotify only support iOS 6+).
