My Question or Issue
Since a few days I can't stream Spotify on my Amazon Echo Studio. I didn't change anything and on other Echo devices in the same household everything works fine but on the Echo Studio Alexa starts telling me about the song that will start now and then nothing happens, just silence. Everything else works fine. Rebooting the Echo Studio doesn't help either.
Hey @mindcycler,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
You can start by removing the access you've granted Alexa in the Apps section on your Account page. Locate Alexa and hit Remove Access. Then, if you see Spotify on the Alexa app, you can unlink them following these steps:
After that, try to link both services again. You can follow these steps to sync Spotify with Alexa again.
If that doesn't do the trick, try reinstalling both apps on your mobile device. You can find the steps to perform a clean reinstall of Spotify here. Give it a try and let us now how it goes.
Keep us in the loop!
I have same issue and followed Ms AlejaR's instruction. But my Echo Studio doesn't restart to work. Would you be kind enough to tell me another way to try, please?
ps.
I don't respect nor use indefinite article (grammar) because Global English must be simpler.
Hey @nextbaron,
Thanks for joining the thread and for already trying the suggested troubleshooting steps!
Could you let us know when this started happening and if you've tried anything else? Does the Echo Studio stop playing or it doesn't start playing music at all?
It's also worth checking out this thread and what other users have mentioned there in case you're experiencing something similar. You can even post your details there if you'd like.
Don't hesitate to let us know if you need help with anything else in the meantime 🙂
Dear Ivelina,
This issue started 4 months ago. What I did were
- remove access of Spotify app (the latest version) in iPhone to Amazon Echo Studio and reconnect it.
- reinstall Spotify app.
> Does the Echo Studio stop playing or it doesn't start playing music at all?
My Echo Studio can make beautiful sound just like me even now with voice commands, but disobey Spotify's commands from Mac mini (M1 2020, Sonoma 14.6.1) & iPhone 12 mini (iOS 17.5.1) just unlike me. After connecting iMac or iPhone & my Echo Studio & clicking to play music, it starts silent music 10 sec. & automatically play next silent music. It won't stop till I click to do or ask Alexa, thanks.
Hey @nextbaron,
Thanks for the additional info!
To make sure we cover all bases, could you double-check so that your device's firewire up-to-update? You can do this by asking Alexa for an update with the voice command - "Alexa, check for updates".
If no updates are available, there's a few more things you can try:
Shouldn't the above do the trick, could you let us know if you've noticed if this happens at any specific points? For example, when playing a certain playlist or a playlist folder? Does it occur when playing podcasts?
Keep us posted!
>For example, when playing a certain playlist or a playlist folder? Does it occur when playing podcasts?
It happens playing anything.
Hey @nextbaron,
Thanks for your reply.
Just to confirm, have you tried all the steps @Maria suggested above? If so, could you let us know if those made any difference?
Also, make sure to let us know if you've noticed if this happens at any specific moments.
We'll be on the lookout.
>have you tried all the steps @Maria suggested above?
Yes.
>make sure to let us know if you've noticed if this happens at any specific moments.
It happens every time.
Hey there,
Thanks for keeping us in the loop & for giving the steps a shot, @nextbaron!
You mentioned removing access of the Spotify app - was this done directly through the account page? If not, would you mind trying to remove the app permission from there? You can do so by heading over to the account page > Manage apps > Remove Access. To relink the service, you just simply need to log back in to Alexa.
Also, is anyone else using the same Echo device(s) within your household by any chance? Do they experience similar issues when connecting their devices to the Echo?
Let us know how it goes!
Hi, I'm just following this thread because I'm having the same issue with my Echo Studio. It started about 5-6 months ago after I moved to another apartment and set up my network again. I've tried all the suggestions: cleared the spotify cache, restarted the Echo Studio device, removed Alexa's acess, checked for updates, reinstalled the Alexa and Spotify apps, and even did a factory reset. Amazon Music play normally.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hey @luizgois,
Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.
To investigate this behavior further, since the issue started after setting up the new network, would you mind trying with a different network connection to see if the issue persists? If you don't have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it.
Also, could you clarify if you're playing the content asking Alexa to play it, or if you're using the Connect feature instead? In case you haven't tried the other method, give it a try to see if it makes any difference.
Lastly, could you also confirm if you've already tried to "re-link" your accounts with the steps mentioned in this thread?
We'll be on the lookout for your response.

I ask Alexa to play Spotify. She confirms that she will play Spotify but I hear nothing come out of the Echo speaker. If I repeat the request a few more times, I have the same problem.
If I unplug the Echo device from the electrical outlet and plug it back in, then it plays podcasts. It continues to work correctly for a few days until the same problem starts again.
When Echo fails to play I know it is not caused by failure to understand my request since Alexa confirms my request.
If Spotify fails to play anything, I immediately ask Alexa to play iHeartRadio, and it plays my requested radio station. That implies the problem is not with my Internet connection.
The problem happens on both of my Alexa devices but at different times. For example, if one Echo device has this problem, and I ask my other Echo device to play Spotify, it succeeds. But within a few days, that device will eventually fail too.
I seem to have the same issue, but no amount of trouble shooting helped m
I am having a similar issue. Spotify won’t play on three of my echoes, Amazon musical play on them, I have an everywhere group, and if I use that Spotify will play on those same echoes that won’t play it individually. The Spotify app indicates that it is playing on the selected speaker But switches song after about eight or 10 seconds still nothing coming out of the speaker? linked, and non-linked the Spotify app multiple times. I’ve checked as many settings as I can find.
Hey folks,
The issue might be coming from your network setup. Here are a few things you can try:
1.) Make sure your network firewall isn't blocking the "spotifycdn.com" domain.
2.) Disable DHCP and change the DNS both in the Alexa app and your router. You can use one of the public DNS' below:
- 1.1.1.1
- 8.8.4.4
- 8.8.8.8
- 9.9.9.9
3.) Disable IPv6 in your router and for all devices.
Hope these help! Cheers 🤘
Yikes . . . That’s a bit over my head, but I did go through the painful process of rebooting my Starlink, my router, and all the nodes on my mesh network
That resolved the problem.
Your suggestion that it could be a network problem got me out of chasing Alexa and the Spotify skill.
Thank you.
