Streaming from iPad Mini to LG TV

I am wanting to use my iPad Mini to stream Spotify to my LG Smart 4k TV the same way I can with Netflix - chose the content and then chose the playback device - but the mini only sees the LG TV for a few seconds, and pressing the connect does nothing. The little icon animates for a couple seconds and goes back to the ipad. Do this a couple times, and the TV disappears from the available device list.

Am I expecting too much? LG does not have a spotify app for my tv (yet).
