The shuffle feature is enabled but only shuffling things in the Queue! Issue on mobile

My Question or Issue

When shuffle is enabled on a playlist (or when I click the shuffle button) my phone will automatically start shuffling my queue.

I've had spotify premium for a few years and never had this issue before but it suddenly started happening. I also tried logging out and back in. Spotify works fine on my desktop but I can't seem to get the shuffle function working on my phone properly. Please please help! I really don't want to get rid of my premium account but I can't figure out how to make it work. (The app is also up to date as well as my phone) 

Has anyone else encountered this? I couldn't find any forms with people having this issue 😞

As a part two question..what is a Queue exactly or it's purpose? I mostly prefer making playlists and listening to songs within them.
