I updated my iPad and iPhone app yesterday and the albums I was listening to have disappeared. It used to show both versions of the album, regular and edited, now I can only see edited / amended albums. Is this just a bug with the new app or will I only be able to access edited albums from now on? Is anyone else having this issue?
Hi David,
The problem isn't finding an explicit version (though this is a problem) it's the mobile version plays a different version. I have a playlist with "Make Some Noise" by the Beastie Boys on a playlist from the single of the same name which is definitely the explicit version, but on my phone the song is the censored version.
Spotify is linked to my facebook so you know i'm over 18. Can't i just tick a box to say "no censored versions" please?
Please fix soon.
The problem is still in effect. When searching an artist using the mobile app on IOS it only brings up edited albums. You can find the unedited songs, but you have to search each song individually, and then find the unedited version by listening to each one, hoping it's the unedited one. This is beyond aggravating. Honestly, if it isn't resolved soon, going to have to move on to a different music service...
yep - problem still seems to exist. Fwiw to the spotify moderators/staff I am trialling spotify at the moment (already subscribe to rhapsody and rdio). This issue is something will stop me converting my trial to a premium subscription. Are there plans to resolve this?
if you search for a specific song or album it will show both versions then just click on the album that has the explicit songs and boom there ya go all the good curses
Many are missing the point. The missing feature we're looking for is in Album View. Constantly searching for specific albums works as others have pointed out. When viewing an artist catalog, which the app frequently guides the user into, it only provides one album version for the artist. Jumping from artist to artist either through recomendations or at whim, a solid majority of the time the only album listed is the edited version. I've run into the same scenario over and over with this app in searching for specific artists, finding the album I'm looking for, having to back and search, then find the specific version of that album via a completely different path. It's irritating.
What we're looking for is the function available on the desktop version to be able to select a different album version via the Album View. Would increase usabilty greatly.
why has spotify never addressed this? i use the app mostly to listen to music from my phone, and i'm sick of only being able to find edited versions. why is there not a drop down menu to view other versions of the album? if this doesn't get fixed, i'm going to cancel my subscription.
